First things first it to ensure that you have all the alcohol you need to make whatever you require. It is important to have a variety of alcohol like vodka, gin, whiskey, rum, tequila, etc. a variety of alcohol ensures that you can make any drink you guests ask for.

The location of your bar is to be considered before you set it up. The bar should be set up in a low traffic area of the house preferably near or in the kitchen. After you have chosen the location you have to set a theme and follow a budget to ensure that you don’t break the bank.

If you don’t want to go all out on glasses you can just serve the drinks in your regular drink ware. A few basic like shot glasses and wine glasses are a requirement though. By doing this you could be increasing the value of the property. It helps to find deals on materials to cut costs. This does not mean cut quality, a common North American misconception. Tips For Decorating A Large Kitchen

February 17th, 2012 Comments off

Everyone loves a big kitchen, but they can also feel cold and impersonal. While there might be plenty of room for more cooks, a warmer, cozy kitchen will be more inviting for family and guests to mingle in. With the right kind of accessories, you can have both a large and cozy kitchen all in one!

One thing you’ll want to do is fill in all the extra space with some great furniture and collectibles which will add interest to the room. The kitchen is a great place to show off your collections and they don’t have to be comprised of kitchen related stuff either! Having some shelves installed or make special wall displays to show off your collection makes for a unique conversation piece in the kitchen.

It is important to consider the scale of your furniture when decorating a large kitchen. A tiny caf table will look out of place so you’ll want a large substantial piece for your table set. You can also include some bakers racks or other storage pieces depending on how large your kitchen is. If the kitchen is setup so that you can add a portable island (or even a stationary one), consider doing this, it will add lots more storage space and you can get one with an eating counter and set up some bar stools for informal dinners.

Accessories can help make a large kitchen more homey. I always like to use lots of potted plants (either silk or real) and a large kitchen can take larger plants easily which adds to the coziness of the room. You can also use larger decorative pieces such as urns, wall hangings and perhaps some architectural pieces of it matches with your dcor. If you have a theme or a collection of something, you may want to show them off in a lighted glass hutch, or add shelves on the wall.

Lighting is important in any kitchen and special considerations should be made for larger rooms. One mistake that many home owners make is to buy lighting that does not match the scale of the room. If you have a large kitchen, you need to buy lighting fixtures that are of a large scale.
Large pendants, big chandeliers and plenty of recessed lighting is good. Don’t forget your task lighting at the counters for cooking and preparing food.

Using Your Talents to Decorate Your Home

February 17th, 2012 Comments off

There are several different looks you can achieve with your decor. Country is one of the most popular looks but this is not the look for everyone. You need to find a look to display your talent to decorate without causing too much chaos in your home.

Chic decorating style is growing in popularity as well. This look is not only relaxing but it is also comfortable. Chic can be displayed in many ways; retro, sophisticated, contemporary, and charming, relaxed or romantic. You simply need to paint a wall or two and de-clutter the room to achieve the chic look. Again, you can go in several different directions with this look so you can customize it more then any other look. If you like the southern plantation style, then do some research to see what items were most popular during this era and get the look in your living room. If there are plantations close to your home, visit one and see how they decorated.

Western decor is also one of the more popular designs in decorating. This look simply takes cowboys and horses to create a western look. Use horseshoes, Texas stars, metal wall decorations, and cowboy figurines to use as decoration. Red bandanas also look great around a lamp shade and blue jean pillows will complete the look.

You can travel back in time to pull out some of the past modern looks like shaggy carpet, an egg shape chair, and the colors green, yellow, and orange. You can use this look in the guest room or sitting room. This is not a look you want throughout the house but you can have one or two rooms decorated in this era.

The country look is also popular in houses all across the world. A country theme like sunflowers or roosters can be used to decorate your kitchen. Place some white lace curtains in your kitchen window to complete the look. Doilies are also used to set on tables and under lamps. They not only give you a country look but they also keep objects from scratching your furniture.

If you have a talent such as painting or crafting, you can add your work to your room. Display your items proudly in your decor because after all, this is your home and it suits your talents and interests. It also gives your room an individualized look that no other room is going to have. If you like to paint, then make sure that you have a balanced look in your room. Overcrowding the area with several different colors will be distracting. Use neutral colors on window treatments so you balance the room.
